The upsets keep coming at Wimbledon.

A day after second-seeded Rafael Nadal of Spain lost to 19-year-old upstart Nick Kyrgios from Australia, Andy Murray, the No. 3 seed, was ousted Wednesday by Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria, 6-1, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

The 23-year-old Bulgarian, seeded 11th, had never advanced past the second round at Wimbledon and will be playing in his first Grand Slam semifinals.

“I sensed that his game was not at the highest [during warmup],” Dimitrov said after the match. “At the same time, I was feeling confident and playing at the highest level.”

Murray, who had British royalty – William and Kate – cheering him on in his box, could not summon the same magic and shot making that propelled him to the Wimbledon title last year, when he ended the 77-year British male drought at the All England club.

This was the first time since 2008 that the 27-year-old Brit failed to reach the Wimbledon semifinals.

“It helped a little bit knowing him,” said Dimitrov, who is good friends with Murray. “But match is different thing. It doesn’t really matter. Today was one of those days where I was pretty steady during the whole match.”
