Oh, Derek Jeter, you wily old fox

Sure, Derek Jeter isn’t the player he was in his prime, but he’s got 20 seasons’ worth of veteran savvy. That wealth of experience came into play Monday night, when Jeter completely fooled Cleveland’s Jason Kipnis into making an out on the bases on a popup.

Here’s the full play (right after this word from one of’s fine sponsors. Sorry):

Okay, sure, all middle infielders are trained to engage in this kind of subterfuge. But it’s Jeter, man. We’re not going to see much more of him on the diamond, so let’s enjoy it while we can.

What’s that you say? The upcoming All-Star Game will basically be one long Derek Jeter infomercial? Well, that’s true, we’re not going to be lacking coverage of ol’ No. 2 in the days to come. At least this post ended quickly.

This former editor and part-time writer at The Post is now happy to prove that if you combine 'blowhard' and 'blaggard,' you get 'blogger.' He previously had used 'Desmond Bieler' as his byline, but feels that shortening the first name to 'Des' nicely conveys his ever-decreasing gravitas. He also covers Fantasy Football.
