The Jaguars haven’t put a very good product on the field in recent years, and fans have taken note, mostly by not filling up EverBank Field. But it can’t be said that owner Shad Khan isn’t trying to improve the in-stadium experience.

On Saturday, EverBank Field packed in more than 50,000 people for a night of entertainment. English Premier League squad Fulham F.C. (owned by Khan) played a friendly against MLS side D.C. United. After that came a concert by Carrie Underwood.

In between those events came a moment that might have been the most anticipated by many in the crowd, and certainly by Jaguars management. The team unveiled what they are billing as the world’s largest scoreboards, one for each end zone and each measuring 60 feet high by 362 feet wide. In other words, each scoreboard is wider than the football field beneath them is long.

The scoreboards were the most conspicuous part of  $63 million in renovations to the stadium that fans enjoyed Saturday. The upgrades cost Jacksonville $43 million, with Khan kicking in the rest, and they also included cabanas and wading pools with views of the field.

Looks pretty sweet, and the Jags certainly hope fans agree. According to the St. Augustine record, the team hasn’t attracted a crowd of 67,000 since 2007; last season, EverBank Field had a capacity of 67,245.
