Matthew McConaughey: Oscar-winning actor, baseball fan and, now, promoter of fanny packs. He wore one to a recent Red Sox game at Fenway Park that attracted the attention of CSN reporter Julia Morales.

“I’m not afraid of the fanny pack,” the star of “Dallas Buyers Club” says. “Practicality wins out. I’ve got so much gear in here that I don’t want in my pockets.”

Unfortunately Morales didn’t press McConaughey for more information about said gear, so we can only imagine what he’s carrying. Obviously, there’s probably the usual suspects: Keys, smartphone, wallet. … But we hope there’s some fun stuff in there, as well. Maybe another fanny pack? You know, just in case he picks up more gear.

As for the game, well, the star seemed a little less interested in that. He ended up leaving at the top of the ninth inning, USA Today reports. The Houston Astros trounced Boston, 8-1, on Sunday.
