A black cat invades pitch, delays Barcelona’s La Liga opener

Barcelona’s La Liga opener against Elche was interrupted briefly when an overenthused spectator ran onto the field at the Camp Nou Stadium in Barcelona.

The invader, a sleek black cat dubbed a “cheeky beggar” by the BBC, gamboled and streaked about the pitch before being corralled by authorities. Hope nobody is superstitious.

Eventually, the kitty wore out and, rather than flopping onto the field, he/she allowed himself/herself to be captured.
