The Oakland Raiders flat-out embarrassed themselves in a 38-14 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday in London, falling to 0-4. Third-year coach Dennis Allen doesn’t seem long for the job — and with the Raiders’ bye week coming up, it would be a good time to pull the plug — but as of Monday morning he still was employed.

That news could come as a surprise to anyone who read Associated Press reporter Terry Collins’s Twitter feed Sunday night and then went to bed, because

in a tweet that was deleted about 45 minutes later. First, Collins apologized for the erroneous report:

Wait, what?

Collins is based in the Bay Area, yes, but he doesn’t seem to cover sports all that much. A list of stories attributed to Collins on the AP’s Web site shows topics such as wildfires and mountain lions and prison breaks. His Twitter feed is stocked with retweets about sports, but little in the way of actual firsthand tweets about sports (or firsthand tweets about anything else, for that matter).
