Why is Dodgers fan Rob Lowe taunting the Royals on Twitter during the World Series?

The San Francisco Giants brought the Kansas City Royals back to earth in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday night, pouncing on Royals starter James Shields early in a 7-1 victory.

Actor Rob Lowe took time to rub it in on Twitter.

Which is weird, because he’s a fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, sworn enemy of the Giants. Take this tweet from 2012, after San Francisco clinched its second World Series title in three years with a sweep of the Detroit Tigers.

Here he is in a Dodgers hat promoting the official charity of the Dodgers.

I mean, look at the results you get from a Google Image search of “rob lowe dodgers.”

Anyway, his tweet from Tuesday night sent Royals fans into a spasm of “why I never!” so Lowe quickly tried to save face.

It’s a reference to the DirecTV commercials that have run about every 30 seconds of late, featuring Creepy Rob Lowe, Less Attractive Rob Lowe, Awkward Rob Lowe, etc. The line about Creepy Rob Lowe going down to the pool to watch people swim slays me every time, because it’s such a perfectly creepy activity.
