It didn’t take long for Russell Westbrook to have his first big fashion moment of the 2014-15 NBA season, which tipped off this week. The 25-year-old Oklahoma City Thunder guard’s sartorial sensibilities were turned up to 11 on Wednesday night as he strutted into the Portland’s Moda Center.
But it wasn’t just the jacket that caught some admirers’ eyes — it was the entire head-to-toe ensemble, that also included a pair of retro aviator spectacles, not unlike the sort Urkel used to wear, which might be why gave Twitter user @RocAfellaChain, who usually keeps his 140-character musings blocked from public eyes, was reminded of something.

The Internet came up with a few other pretty funny comparisons, as well.

Whatever you think about Westbrook’s fashion sense, however, he played some pretty good basketball on Wednesday, putting 38 points on the board, due partly to hitting 15 out of 16 free throw attempts. Unfortunately for the Thunder, which is missing star Kevin Durant because of injury, his efforts alone couldn’t carry the team to a win. The Trail Blazers won, 106-89.
