The Seattle Seahawks, ever so briefly, attempted to mark the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Monday with a tweet that involved an inspirational quote from the slain civil rights leader and a photo of a crying quarterback Russell Wilson.
The team quickly deleted the tweet, but that’s not how the internet works.

By late afternoon, the team had apologized.
We apologize for poor judgment shown in a tweet sent earlier. We did not intend to compare football to the civil rights legacy of Dr. King.
