There was a time, a glorious time, 20 or so years ago, when email and the internet were sweet, sweet mysteries that “Today” show hosts were grappling to comprehend.

It made sense, kind of, at the time and now it’s just a quaint memory. And a way to make a buck. In a Super Bowl XLIX ad for BMW, the show’s former hosts put their minds to the new BMW “automobile,” with its fancy-shmancy all-electric model built in a carbon neutral wind-powered factory. Possibly by unicorns.

“And it’s built using wind, like from a wind mill?” Gumbel says.

“Or a fan? Or a turbine? Or a fan…bine?” Couric adds.

“What is i3 anyway?” Gumbel continues.
