Minor-league baseball teams set the bar high when it comes to promotions, unique jerseys and extreme ball park food.
The Wilmington Blue Rocks, the Kansas City Royals’ advanced Single-A affiliate, are no exception and have partnered with Krispy Kreme New Castle to give baseball fans something they’ve always wanted – a Krispy Kreme Doughnut Dog.
Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like.
Fans at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington will be able to indulge in a hot dog wrapped in a traditional Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut. Or, if that’s not enough for your palate, there will be a version that comes with bacon and raspberry jelly drizzled on top.
Take a minute to soak that all in.
“The Blue Rocks are always looking for new ways to please our fans, and we think this is certainly going to accomplish that,” said Blue Rocks Director of Advertising Sales Brian Radle in a statement. “Krispy Kreme doughnuts and ballpark hot dogs are two of America’s favorite treats, so why not combine them?”
The team is asking fans to name the concoction at BlueRocks.com or the team’s Facebook page and will select the winning name on March 25.
