Caitlyn Jenner to receive courage award at ESPY’s

Not long after Vanity Fair released the first photos of Caitlyn Jenner on Monday, writer James Andrew Miller broke the news of Jenner’s first big public appearance.

The award clearly means a great deal to Jenner.

This year’s ESPY’s will be broadcast July 15 on ABC. Also on the broadcast: Leah Still will receive the Jimmy V Perseverance Award along with her father, Cincinnati Bengals tackle Devon Still, for their continued battle against her cancer.

Past winners of the Arthur Ashe Courage Award include Michael Sam, Robin Roberts and Pat Summitt.

Drian Juarez, program manger for the L.A. LGBT Center, says Bruce Jenner’s announcement of her new identity as Caitlyn has highlighted shifting attitudes in the media. (Video: Reuters)
