As life after being a big TV star goes, Patrick Dempsey’s has taken a significant turn for the better.

Killed off in an auto accident on “Grey’s Anatomy” this spring, McDreamy and his Dempsey-Proton team, with co-drivers Patrick Long and Marco Seefried, finished second Sunday in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race’s GTE Amateur category. Not bad for a guy who met a shocking demise in April.

“I think it’s hard to put into words how much it means to be on the podium in Le Mans. Phenomenal effort and support from Porsche,” an emotional Dempsey told French TV. “It’s an amazing accomplishment, you always dream about moments like this. I’ve worked really hard over the last three years to make this happen and I’m here. Vive la France!”
