If you’ve come to this article hoping to laugh at yet another terrible rap video made by athletes, you’re about to be disappointed. Because, as strange as this might sound, this rap that comes straight outta Brigham Young University is actually pretty great.

The key, of course, might be that no football players actually rap in the video. Instead, the song “Dreamin'” was written and performed by rapper Jamesthemormon and it features former college basketball player Yahosh Bonner on vocals.

A few players get cameos in the video, including quarterback Tanner Mangum (as one might expect, he just kind of stands in the background looking awkward), but the rest of the video is composed mostly of game film interspersed with shots of Jamesthemormon and Bonner performing at BYU’s LaVell Edwards Stadium.

BYU is off to a fantastic start this football season thanks largely to Mangum, who came in as a backup to Taysom Hill and has now thrown two Hail Mary’s to earn back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

This fact was not lost in the rap’s lyrics, a bunch of which shout out to Mangum.

“Uh, he the man, he the miracle. Too sick ’cause is arm’s incurable,” the song starts, showing Mangum warming up.

Later, the lyrics compare Mangum to a BYU legend: “We all gonna roar; can’t sit in stands; and my homeboy throw like Jim McMahon. And it don’t stop spinnin’ like a ceiling fan ’cause the backup gonna be the winning plan.”

Jamesthemormon, Bonner and every other BYU fan will hope the rap brings more good vibes to the team, which is set to face UCLA on Saturday. The Bruins, who are also 2-0 this season, are favored to win. The game kicks off at 10:30 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1.
