Futbol is increasingly influencing football, it seems, as more NFL stars channel Portuguese soccer great Cristiano Ronaldo to celebrate their touchdowns. The latest player to pull out the Real Madrid superstar’s signature move is New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who posed in triumph after scoring a 67-yard touchdown during the team’s 24-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Beckham, who once described himself “a Neymar or Messi type of guy,” has said he actually would’ve pursued soccer had it not required him to leave his family to train more seriously. Perhaps it also helps that he shares a surname with another soccer great named David.

Or maybe he’s just catching on to what seems like a growing celebration trend in the NFL. After scoring a 69-yard touchdown against the Washington Redskins last week, Miami Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry pulled out Ronaldo’s move, too.

This is progress, people. When football players attempted versions of Ronaldo’s signature celebration last season, things didn’t go so well. They certainly didn’t look as cool.

Perhaps, this celebration only belongs in the end zone…
