Paul Rudd is a great actor, but he’s an even greater Royals fan. So it’s no surprise that the famous Kansas City native found himself at Citi Field on Monday night cheering on his team to a World Series victory over the New York Mets. Perhaps even more exciting for Rudd than the nail-biter of a game, though, was the celebration in the clubhouse — where he got to party with the team.

“I’m way too dry!” he shouted before the team made it rain several bottles of beer and sparkling alcohol in his face.

Rudd likely got the celebrity treatment because, well, he’s a celebrity, but his superstitious wardrobe also may have gotten him in the door.

Rudd attended the game with three Royals T-shirts on, including one that he’s worn to every game he’s been at since last year’s wild-card game.

“Winning the World Series is the greatest thing that can happen to a community,” he said, barely able to string words together. “I’m just so happy that everyone in Kansas City’s gonna be in a good mood for a while.”

Rudd, who now lives in New York, said he’s going to try his hardest to make it to Tuesday’s celebration parade in his home town, but it will depend on his kids’ school schedule. Apparently, there are some things he loves more than baseball.
