Sheamus is Irish and he fights (well, sort of) for a living, so it stands to reason that he would be a fan of the Fighting Irish. In fact, the WWE star paid a visit to South Bend, Ind., over the weekend to cheer on multiple Notre Dame teams and present football coach Brian Kelly with a custom championship belt.

That triumphant moment occurred on Friday, when Sheamus turned up at a Notre Dame pep rally. The Fighting Irish haven’t won a national championship in football since 1988, but this year’s squad is in position to compete for one, having moved into the crucial top four in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings.

Sheamus also took in Notre Dame basketball and hockey games on Friday. Gotta hand it to the guy, he really made the most of his visit, as his Twitter feed reflected.

On Saturday, Sheamus was still hanging around the Notre Dame campus, all the better to see the football team take on Wake Forest from the sideline.
