In a move surprising a lot of people, one of the worst teams in the history of the NBA just signed one of the best front office people in the history of the league. The Philadelphia 76ers announced Monday that Jerry Colangelo would be joining their front office as chairman of basketball operations and a special advisor.

Colangelo is a basketball legend, who not only owned, but ran operations for the Phoenix Suns for decades and is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. He’s been named the Executive of the Year in the NBA four times and was named the director of USA Basketball in 2005.

“His knowledge and everything else will be invaluable, as will his ability to help us in that respect,” team owner Josh Harris said Monday at a press conference.

The Sixers might have lost 28 games in a row, but today they got a win.
