Lamar Odom still has some work ahead of him as he recovers from a purported drug overdose in October, but he made a giant step this week when he left Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles.

Family spokeswoman Alvina Alston confirmed his release to the Associated Press on Friday, two days after he was released on Wednesday. According to Us Weekly, his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian secretly checked him out and moved him into a private rehabilitation facility near her home.

Reports about Odom’s progress have been mixed since he collapsed at a Nevada brothel in mid-October. According to Alston, however, the 36-year-old former NBA star has shown “miraculous and continued improvement.” The spokeswoman provided no further detail.

Paparazzi got its first glimpse of Odom on Friday when they snapped photos of him riding in a vehicle in Los Angeles, according to E! News. It was unclear where he was headed or who he was with, however.

Previously, the world got its first glimpse of Odom when his son Lamar Odom Jr. posted a selfie with his dad and sister on Instagram over the holidays.

“Christmas with my pops,” the photo’s caption said. “Here’s to 2016. Blessed.”
