Do you love the Patriots? Because Julian Edelman loves the Patriots. That makes sense considering he’s a wide receiver for the team. But Edelman seems like more than just an employee; he seems like a fan. On Friday, he posted a hype video to his YouTube channel to get himself and others pumped for Saturday’s AFC Divisional playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
It’s likely Edelman didn’t spend hours splicing together the footage for the video, titled “Unto the Breach,” but maybe. Edelman hasn’t played since November, when he underwent foot surgery, but this week word got out that he was cleared to come back just in time for this pivotal postseason clash.
And The Washington Post’s Des Bieler says there’s plenty of reason for the team and its fans to get hyped about that:
“[T]he Patriots will be grateful for — and perhaps in dire need of — whatever contributions Edelman can make. Through Week 10, when the receiver got hurt against the New York Giants, New England averaged 33.7 points per game while starting 9-0. Since then, the team has averaged 23.1 points while ending the season on a 3-4 skid.
“At the time he got hurt, Edelman had a team-leading 61 catches for 691 yards and seven touchdowns. Even now, he is third on the Patriots, behind just tight end Rob Gronkowski (72 receptions) and wide receiver Danny Amendola (65).”
Of course, there’s probably one player on the Patriots who needs no extra hyping up and that’s good ol’ Gronk. The 26-year-old doesn’t get hyped, but stays hyped — constantly — thanks to his good friend WWE star Mojo Rawley.
