Curry confirmed the honor with a tweet.
The Panthers made the announcement about three hours before kickoff.
With Curry, a Charlotte native, on percussion in the Panthers’ opener, the team beat Houston, 24-17.
Curry had better be a good luck charm — he has guaranteed a Super Bowl victory for a while now and the Warriors did their part Saturday night against Oklahoma City.
“Keep Pounding” was started as a tribute to former Panthers linebacker and coach Sam Mills, who came up with the expression to fire up the team before a 2004 playoff game. Mills died in 2004 and his son, Sam II, is the team’s assistant defensive line coach.
