Although Chief Wahoo will remain on the sleeve of players’ jerseys, the team has been moving away from the logo for quite a while now. It was taken off the road cap in 2011 and off the home batting helmet three years ago.
“We do have empathy for those who take issue with it,” Dolan said. “We have minimized the use of it and we’ll continue to do what we think is appropriate.”
Chief Wahoo isn’t permanently going away, though. “It is part of our history and legacy,” Dolan said.
And it has been a lucrative part of that history and legacy, too. The home cap with the Wahoo logo was the top seller last year, Cleveland.com reports, with the washed Wahoo cap the No. 3 seller.
