Thursday’s NBA draft featured a doozy of a trade: According to multiple reports, the Thunder sent Serge Ibaka to the Magic in exchange for Victor Oladipo, Ersan Ilyasova and the 11th pick, Domantas Sabonis.

So how was that deal received online? Well, let’s just say that Orlando executives might want to stay off Twitter for a while.

For the most part, social media users savaged the swap, claiming the Magic had given up far too much for Ibaka. In seven seasons in Oklahoma City, the 26-year-old native of the Congo has never made an all-star game, although he has been named first-team all-defense three times, and his PER this past season (13.9) was the lowest of his career. Here is a sampling of the online reaction:

Oh, and Ibaka has just one season left on his contract, a fact that some noted.

Some, however, saw the upside for the Magic in the deal.

Of course, this is all just talk, and a true evaluation of the trade can’t be made until after we see how each side fares on the court. But most of the talk was not complimentary to the Magic, who may have some ’splaining to do to their fan base.
