Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo docked their yachts just feet apart in Ibiza

The rivalry between the two best soccer players in the world took to the waters this week when both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo ended up docking their yachts just a few feet apart while on vacation in Ibiza, Spain.

It turns out Ronaldo’s yacht is bigger, Spain’s AS newspaper reports. It measures 118 feet long compared with Messi’s 92-foot yacht.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s abs were made to look flabby on TV. This means war.

While the two docked their fancy boats next to each other, they’re not vacationing together. Messi, who may still be smarting from Argentina’s loss to Chile in the Copa America final last month, is hanging out with his partner Antonella and their two children Thiago and Mateo. Ronaldo, meanwhile, likely still celebrating after earning Portugal its first major world title by beating France at the European championship on Sunday, is with friends and family of his own.

Those matching shorts, though…

The Barcelona forward has undoubtedly had the more difficult summer of the two, and not just because of the Copa America loss. Last week, Spanish courts sentenced Messi to 21-months in jail for defrauding the government of $4.6 million in taxes. The 28-year-old won’t have to serve a single day of that sentence, however, thanks to a Spanish law that suspends sentences of less than two years for non-violent crimes.

Both Messi and Ronaldo will have to wrap up their leisure time in the next couple of weeks as Barca and Real Madrid kick off their preseasons. Barca starts with an international Champions Cup match against Celta on July 30, while Real Madrid’s preseason will officially begin on Saturday. Ronaldo, however, is unlikely to report before July 31, AS reports.
