For Michigan fans in and around Ann Arbor, Saturday’s blowout victory over Rutgers smelled like steak.

Good, cheap deeply-discounted-yet-tasty steak.

The Fourth Avenue Ruth’s Chris Steak House in Ann Arbor posted a tempting, mouth-watering offer on Facebook on Friday: the restaurant would discount patrons’ total food bill by whatever percentage equaled the Wolverines’ margin of victory Saturday.

Then Michigan went out and trounced Rutgers 78-0, which seemed to many to mean a whopping 78 percent discount. Alas, the “Score Big” ad clearly capped the offer at “up to 50 percent” off on food for the rest of the season. And the promotion is only available Sunday through Thursday because you know there’s always a catch.

“Our apologies the discount cap at 50% was not clear in this initial post,” the management wrote in the comments. “This amazing promotion was launched with a cap of ‘up to 50% off’ the food portion of the bill and we’ve updated this post to reflect that.”

By early Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was all booked up through Thursday.
