Wait, aren’t the Raiders the team that inspires silver garb with spikes? Yet, before Denver took on Oakland on Sunday, there was Broncos star Von Miller, working out in these gloves and shoes:

Well, those are . . . something. They do look kind of cool, in a don’t-try-wearing-these-at-home kind of way. But whether the spikes are enough to inspire fear in the hearts of Miller’s opponents is another matter altogether.
There is arguably more of a fashion-forward thing happening here, one that makes the look less fearsome and more simply fabulous. In any event, there’s no denying that February’s Super Bowl MVP was looking sharp (ahem) in Oakland. Here’s hoping he didn’t injure anybody while signing autographs.
Of course, if anyone involved in the Broncos-Raiders game was going to wear those eye-catching cleats, it figured to be Miller. After all, this is a man who has said he owns more than 800 pairs of shoes, and he has shown an affinity for the spiked look before, in addition to rocking all sorts of fancy footwear before games.
Before games actually kick off, Miller is required to switch back to more conventional cleats, but those don’t seem to be cramping his on-field style much. The sixth-year linebacker entered Sunday’s contest with 8.5 sacks, second in the league, and he quickly added another with a first-quarter takedown of Derek Carr.
