Thought you’d seen it all during the Super Bowl halftime shows?
Think again because Lady Gaga plans to perform Sunday while suspended from the retractable roof of Houston’s NRG Stadium. Reports of the stunt had leaked out before, but her ladyship confirmed it Monday, saying it was the idea of her younger sister, Natali.
“My sister was like, ‘I know, let’s suspend you in the air!’ ” Gaga said, laughing, in an interview with “Karson & Kennedy” on Boston’s Mix 104.1.
The roof when closed (and, again, this is key) is 265 feet about the playing field, according to Houston Architecture, a figure that is about 261 feet higher than most people would want to be. If it sounds dangerous, well, Gaga seems unconcerned.
“First of all, there’s a lengthy process to go through, meeting with the NFL and sort of applying and discussing what you would do in the first place,” she said. “I think that part of how they decide who is going to come and do the halftime show is based on our ideas and what we want to do. They were really excited about the show we wanted to put on. They’ve been super supportive. They’ve been there every day at the rehearsal space with us and cheering me on as I rehearse. It’s been great.”
All Gaga has to do is not look down.
