The Golf Channel is airing a three-part special about the legendary Jack Nicklaus starting April 9, and President Trump will make an appearance.

“People like Jack, they have a desire to win,” Trump says in the special, according to Deadline. “They never give up, they never quit. He’s a man that’s led a truly exemplary life; his family, his work ethic, his championship status. He’s a very exceptional man.”

The Golf Channel, by the way, is owned by NBC Universal along with NBC, a network Trump called “despicable” last week.

Nicklaus supported Trump, whose enthusiasm for the game of golf has not waned since taking over as president, during the campaign and reiterated that support this week during an NBCU promotional event.

“I have known Donald for long time, through the game of golf. He’s been very supportive of a lot of things I have done,” Nicklaus said, again per Deadline. “I think he’s going to be good in the office, going to do a good job.

“But, I’m very supportive of all our presidents,” Nicklaus added.

In spirit, perhaps. But a search of the Federal Election Commission campaign-contribution database shows that Nicklaus has given financial support almost solely to Republican candidates, both for president and Congress.

Trump also was in attendance when Nicklaus was presented with a Congressional Gold Medal in March 2015.
