James Franklin had a lot to yell about as Penn State lost a tough game for the second straight week, but sportsmanship and not the result was the primary thing on his mind after the game.
After Michigan State’s Matt Coghlin kicked the winning field goal as time ran out, Franklin could be seen making an maniacal beeline for some players who were heading to the locker room. He rounded up linebacker Koa Farmer and others because they hadn’t shaken hands with MSU players, a point he stressed at the beginning of his postgame news conference.

“To make sure everybody’s clear, and don’t misinterpret this at the end of the game that I was running off the field. I would never do that,” Franklin said. “I saw a few of our players running off the field, not going to shake hands. We’re going to win with class and we are going to lose with class, and we are going to shake people’s hands and give them credit because they deserved it.”
