Two alternatives to Andre Ellington for your weekly fantasy football league

There is word coming out of Arizona that Cardinals running back Andre Ellington could miss some significant time because of a foot injury, and because he was one of the better values for your weekly fantasy football league, here are two other options to have ready.

Mark Ingram, New Orleans Saints

Ingram broke five tackles on 21 carries while averaging 4.9 yards after contact during the preseason. The Falcons, meanwhile, allowed the second-most yards per rush attempt (4.8) last season. Ingram might not be the top back on the Saints’ depth chart, but over the past three years he has 60 attempts and nine touchdowns in the red zone.

Toby Gerhart, Jacksonville Jaguars

No longer in the shadow of Adrian Peterson, Gerhart will now be the feature back in Jacksonville.

Last season he averaged a whopping 7.9 yards per carry with Minnesota — 3.78 yards per carry after contact — and broke a total of 14 tackles on 36 rushing attempts. In Week 1 he faces a Philadelphia defense that allowed an average of 104 rushing yards per game (10th in the league)  in 2013.
