President Obama will nominate White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew to head the Treasury Department, according to a report from the Post’s Zachary Goldfarb and Chris Cillizza

Lew, who previously served as Obama’s budget director and as a senior State Department official, was budget director during the Clinton administration and a top aide to the late Rep. Thomas P. “Tip” O’Neill Jr., a Massachusetts Democratic and one of the nation’s longest serving House speakers.

Lew would replace current Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, who is expected to step down at the end of the month.
