President Obama on Tuesday will call on Congress to delay sequestration from starting next month by passing a small package of spending cuts and tax changes, according to a report from Zachary A. Goldfarb.

The White House official who leaked the news did not detail specific spending cuts or tax changes — possibly the closing of loopholes or deductions benefiting the wealthy or select industries — but said they should postpone the automatic spending cuts for only a few months, according to Goldfarb.

Obama is expected to make a statement about the proposal at 1:15 p.m.
