President Obama spoke Saturday to the Disabled American Veterans convention in Orlando, outlining $107 million in new funding for researching and treating post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.
Biden is to speak Aug. 27.
The American Legion will also hear about the VA’s efforts to combat the disability backlog from senior VA officials, including Under Secretary for Benefits Allison Hickey, Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs Steve Muro, and Robert Jesse, VA’s principal deputy under secretary for health.
The administration has been claiming progress in recent months in lowering the size of the backlog.
Other guest speakers at the convention include Theodore Roosevelt IV, a Navy veteran who served two tours in the Vietnam War and is the great-grandson of America’s 26th president, Teddy Roosevelt.
