At last, some good news for federal employees — the public likes you.

Sixty-two percent of those surveyed by the Pew Research Center said they had a favorable of federal workers, compared to 29 percent with an unfavorable view.

The survey of 1,504 adults was conducted Oct. 9-13, right in the midst of the 16-day partial government shutdown that began on Oct. 1.

Most agencies also were rated favorably, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention topping the list with a 75 percent favorable rating. The Internal Revenue Service was last at 44 percent.

One thing the survey makes clear, the public likes the feds much more than Congress. It was rated favorably by just 23 percent in the survey, compared to 73 percent who don’t like the job Congress is doing.
