Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric K. Shinseki is scheduled to meet Thursday afternoon with veteran-service organizations to discuss the recent  inspector general’s findings that VA officials falsified scheduling records and the VA’s ongoing work to address the issues. The largest of the groups, the American Legion, has called for Shinseki’s resignation, but others have said they are consulting with members to gauge their desire for his removal.

He is also planning on speaking Friday morning to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, an address that administration officials described as “significant.” Shinseki is expected to acknowledge that there has been “a breach of trust” between veterans and the department responsible for their care and he is expected to discuss plans to fix problems across the department, the officials said.
