Federal Diary columnist Joe Davidson on Tuesday talked with WJLA’s Capital Insider about the bill Congress and President Obama recently approved to give the Department of Veterans Affairs greater authority to fire or demote senior executives for wrongdoing and performance issues.

To review, the measure gives disciplined executives one week to appeal the decisions with the Merit Systems Protection Board, which then has three weeks to issue a ruling, or else the agency’s decision would stand.

Davidson said the new policy represents a “severe undercutting of the due-process rights for this one group of employees compared to employees generally.” Check out the full interview below.
