St. Louis Rams dealing with more injuries along offensive line

The St. Louis Rams were without starting left guard Rokevious Watkins in today’s practice, and starting left tackle Rodger Saffold practiced in a limited capacity, according to the team’s injury report.

Watkins is nursing an ankle injury and is uncertain for Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins. Saffold suffered a serious neck injury in last week’s 27-23 loss to  the Detroit Lions and had to be carted off the field before spending the night in the hospital. The Rams already are without starting center Scott Wells, who is sidelined with a broken foot.

Also unable to practice for St. Louis were backup defensive linemen Michael Brockers (ankle) – the team’s first-round pick out of LSU – and Matt Conrath (knee). Fellow defensive tackle Darell Scott (knee) practiced on a limited basis.

Mike Jones covers the Washington Redskins for The Washington Post. When not writing about a Redskins development of some kind – which is rare – he can be found screaming and cheering at one of his kids’ softball, baseball, soccer or basketball games.
