Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said wide receiver Pierre Garcon sat out practice because of his lingering foot injury. Cornerback David Jones (Achilles’ tendon) and safety Brandon Meriweather (knee) also sat out practice.

Pierre Garcon sat out practice on Wednesday.
  • Shanahan called Garcon’s injury “a mystery,” but said that the Redskins don’t want it to linger throughout the season, so he has told Garcon to let him know when he is ready to play.
  • Safety Jordan Pugh (concussion), nose tackle Barry Cofield (shoulder), cornerback DeAngelo Hall (knee) and end Doug Worthington (calf) were limited in practice, while linebacker London Fletcher and end Stephen Bowen had lighter workloads for rest.
  • Tight end Fred Davis revived treatment for a knee injury but practiced fully.
  • Shanahan said the Redskins continue to experiment with Robert Griffin III’s capabilities and “we’re having fun with it.”
  • Shanahan said although the Giants have never played Griffin, he expects them to be well-prepared because of film study.
  • Shanahan said the NFC East remains the toughest division in football thanks largely to ownership of each of those teams and their competitiveness.
  • Shanahan said tackle Jammal Brown (PUP list, hip) could be ready to practice after the bye week in Week 10.
