Washington Redskins director of security Ed Burke said that a large sum of money and passport belonging to Coach Mike Shanahan have not been found after the coach reported them missing following the team’s game in Pittsburgh on Oct. 28.
The Tribune-Review said “Despite being told that the locker room was secured throughout the game, Shanahan chose to file a report with Pittsburgh police. Officers subsequently met with Ed Burke, the Redskins’ security director.”
The paper also said that the report was later withdrawn the following day after the money and passport were found in another bag.
But that’s not the case, according to Burke.
In a statement released by the team Thursday morning, Burke said: “Mike Shanahan did have money and a passport stolen out of his locker room in Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh Police insisted on filing a police report because of the missing passport. There is an ongoing investigation. The missing property was not stowed in another bag as reported.”
