Pierre Garcon, Brandon Meriweather questionable for Sunday

Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said wide receiver Pierre Garcon and strong safety Brandon Meriweather are listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against Philadelphia.

The coach expressed optimism about getting both back this week, though.

Pierre Garcon has played in just three of nine games this season.

Shanahan said Garcon (toe) and Meriweather (knee) have made strides in their recoveries this week in practice.

Garcon has played in just three of the team’s nine games, but Shanahan said of his top target, “he feels good enough that if there are no setbacks, I think he’ll play.”

Shanahan also said Meriweather has a strong chance of playing. Twice the strong safety has re-injured his knee, but Shanahan said this week the former two-time Pro Bowl pick is on target to make his debut baring another setback.
