Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is a nominee for both player of the week and rookie of the week.
Griffin has earned consideration for the honors, which are determined by fan votes, after completing 14 of 15 passes for 200 yards and a career-high four touchdown in a 31-6 win over Philadelphia. He also rushed for 84 yards on 12 carries.
Fellow nominees for player of the week: New England’s Tom Brady, who completed 24 of 25 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns in a 59-24 win over Indianapolis; and Houston’s Matt Schaub, who threw for 527 yards and five touchdowns while completing 43 of 55 passes in a 43-37 overtime win over Jacksonville.
Fans can vote by going to NFL.com/FedEx. The winner will be announced Friday afternoon.
Griffin was nominated for this honor following his Week 1 win over the Saints, but didn’t win.
He has, however, been nominated for and won the rookie of the week honor three times this season.
The other nominees are Jacksonville’s Justin Blackmon (seven catches for 236 yards and a touchdown), New England cornerback Alfonzo Dennard (four tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown), Indianapolis’ T.Y. Hilton (six catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns) and Tampa Bay’s Doug Martin (24 carries for 138 yards in his team’s 27-21 win over Carolina). Fans can vote at NFL.com/rookies.
