Robert Griffin III still day by day

Robert Griffin III after he sustained a right knee sprain in the Dec. 9 game against the Baltimore Ravens

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will continue to be evaluated on a daily basis this week, according to Coach Mike Shanahan, who gave no indication Monday whether he expects Griffin to return to the lineup for Sunday’s game at Philadelphia.
Shanahan would not say whether he expects Griffin to practice fully Wednesday.
Griffin was limited in practices last week and was held out of Sunday’s win at Cleveland because of a mild sprain of the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. Fellow rookie Kirk Cousins started in Griffin’s place and threw for two touchdowns to extend the Redskins’ winning streak to five games.
Shanahan said doctors will determine whether Griffin’s LCL is healed sufficiently for him to play. “If the doctors give their okay, he’s going to play,” Shanahan said.
Shanahan declined to give further details about the knee injury suffered Sunday by center Will Montgomery.
Montgomery injured his left medial collateral ligament. But Shanahan refused to say Monday how severe the injury is or how long Montgomery might be sidelined. He said he would discuss the injury further Wednesday.
Right tackle Tyler Polumbus suffered a concussion Sunday and must be cleared by an independent neurologist to practice or play.
The Redskins have played the same five starters on their offensive line in every game this season.
