Redskins can clinch playoff berth this week with a win and some help

The Redskins can ensure themselves a spot in the playoffs with a victory over the Eagles and help from three other teams, according to the NFL.

The Redskins need the New York Giants to lose at Baltimore, Chicago to lose at Arizona and Minnesota to lose at Houston, the league said Tuesday.

That’s a lot of help, but it’s not impossible.

If all that does occur, the Redskins would clinch a spot in the playoffs, but not the NFC East crown.

The Redskins’ Dec. 30th meeting with the Cowboys will have a lot riding on it. The outcome could decide Washington’s playoff chances, and likely will decide the NFC East champ.

Mike Jones covers the Washington Redskins for The Washington Post. When not writing about a Redskins development of some kind – which is rare – he can be found screaming and cheering at one of his kids’ softball, baseball, soccer or basketball games.
