Redskins safety DeJon Gomes suffered an MCL sprain in his left knee on the opening kickoff of the third quarter, and didn’t return to action. Coach Mike Shanahan said that the team didn’t know immediately after the game how severe the injury is, and that the second-year pro will be evaluated as the week progresses.

Meanwhile, defensive lineman Kedric Golston said after the game that he just suffered a shoulder stinger, and should be fine.

Washington played without right tackle Tyler Polumbus, who suffered a concussion and missed nearly all of the second half of last week’s game at Cleveland. Polumbus had practiced in a limited capacity on Wednesday and Friday, but missed Thursday’s practice. He was listed as questionable on Friday and was still being monitored for symptoms, Shanahan said.

Polumbus was on the field for some pregame warmup work on Sunday, but shortly after was announced as inactive.

“When he woke up this morning, he wasn’t feeling right, and we kept him out,” Shanahan said.

Receiver Josh Morgan received some treatment for an injured hand, but said that he didn’t believe it to be a serious injury, and didn’t expect to miss time.
