Redskins safety DeJon Gomes suffered a partially torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee during Sunday’s win at Philadelphia, Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday.
Right tackle Tyler Polumbus will continue to be evaluated under the sport’s concussion guidelines, Shanahan said. Polumbus was on the inactive list for the victory over the Eagles, one week after he suffered a concussion during a triumph at Cleveland.
Maurice Hurt started in place of Polumbus at right tackle Sunday. Shanahan said Monday he thought Hurt played well.
Shanahan said Monday that quarterback Robert Griffin III is fine and not limited by his knee injury. Griffin returned to the lineup Sunday after missing one game because of a mild sprain of the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. Griffin ran the ball only twice against the Eagles. But on Monday, Shanahan played down any limitations that Griffin’s knee might be putting on the rookie’s play, saying that Griffin is cleared to play full speed and ready to go.
