Kedric Golston signs three-year deal to remain with Redskins

The Washington Redskins have signed defensive end Kedric Golston to a three-year deal, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed.

The deal, which was agreed to Tuesday night, is worth up to $5.2 million and comes with a signing bonus of $360,000.

Drafted out of Georgia by Washington in the sixth round of the 2006 draft, Golston was a free agent last season and wound up re-signing on a one-year deal. The 6-foot-4, 318-pounder rotated with starting defensive ends Jarvis Jenkins and Stephen Bowen and recorded 16 tackles.

Golston’s 2011 campaign ended in Week 10 when he was placed on injured reserve with a torn MCL and partially torn ACL in his left knee. But he returned last season and served as a reliable player in Washington’s defensive line rotation and on special teams.

Washington has now retained three of its unrestricted free agents (Golston, punter Sav Rocca and left guard Kory Lichtensteiger) and four restricted free agents (tight end Logan Paulsen, fullback Darrel Young, outside linebacker Rob Jackson and long-snapper Nick Sundberg) while also tendering restricted free agent nose tackle Chris Baker.
