You probably read about Pierre Garcon’s All-White party hosted last week to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, which Sarah Kogod covered over on the D.C. Sports Bog.

On Tuesday, the Redskins wide receiver stopped by Richard England Clubhouse 14 to present the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington with a check for $30,000 to help fund the organization’s athletic departments.

After taking a round of questions from the students at the clubhouse, Garcon made his presentation.

“The Boys & Girls Clubs have been doing a lot of good since before I was born, and this is an organization that’s proven, so the question was, ‘Why not?’ really,” said Garcon, whose camp contacted local Boys & Girls Club officials asking how the receiver could become involved. “Everybody has some type of attachment to the Boys & Girls Clubs, so to give back to this organization, it’s what it’s all about.”

Garcon said he plans on making the All-White party an annual event to benefit the organization, and that he’ll find other ways to help out as well.

After posing with the large number of students at the center, Garcon took time to sign some autographs and pose for pictures.

“Interacting with these kids is great,” he said. “This is something I do just about every other day, but it’s cool to actually do it here and see the kids here at the Boys & Girls Club.”

Paul Alagero, chief development officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, thanked Garcon not only for his financial support, but for being a role model as well.

“The Boys & Girls Clubs are pleased, not only with Pierre’s All-White Bash, Pierre has selected the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington, D.C., to be one of his youth partners as he has moved into the Washington area. And the example that he sets for our young members are the example that we hope they can live up to.”
