RICHMOND – Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon plans to deliver next week the new football jerseys he’s donating to three high schools in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area this season.

Working in conjunction with the Russell Athletic brand, Garcon this summer hosted a social media contest, searching for a high school in the District, Maryland and Virginia. Thomas Jefferson High in Alexandria, Theodore Roosevelt High in the District and Springbrook High in Silver Spring were selected as the winners of the contest.

Garcon and representatives from Russell Athletic will visit each school on Tuesday, Aug. 20, and deliver the uniforms to their football programs.

“It just makes me happy that I could help out, especially in high school, where for kids, it’s a big moment in their lives,” Garcon said after the Redskins’ morning walk-through on Tuesday. “Having nice uniforms could make you play a little bit better and hopefully help you earn a scholarship to play Division I football, and that goes a long way between playing Division I instead of Division III, not having to pay your loans and all that. So, I try to help out in whatever little way I can. Uniforms area an easy way I can help out, and hopefully lift the morale of the team.”
