RICHMOND — The Washington Redskins announced Thursday they’d signed free agent linebacker Quan Sturdivant.

Sturdivant has had stints on the practice squads of the Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. He entered the league as a sixth-round draft choice by the Cardinals in 2011 out of North Carolina.

The Redskins added veteran linebacker Nick Barnett earlier in training camp. They’d been looking to bolster their depth at the position after reserve linebacker Keenan Robinson suffered a torn pectoral muscle during the opening practice of camp.

The Redskins opened up a roster spot when they released wide receiver Devery Henderson on Wednesday.
