Washington Redskins players are giving positive reviews to a set of newly made renovations at Redskins Park that includes an expanded weight room, a new kitchen and other upgrades.
“It’s tremendous,” quarterback Kirk Cousins said. “I don’ t know how much you all have seen but between the cafeteria and hot and cold tub and underwater treadmill, which I think I’m going to put to use later today, the weight room — it’s spectacular. When you get injured, you start to really appreciate having the improved facilities.”
Multiple players mentioned the new dining facilities.
“We’ve got a gourmet chef,” linebacker Brian Orakpo said. “I feel under-dressed when I go in there with flip-flops now. That’s how crazy the renovations are. … It’s great, man. It’s a great atmosphere we’ve got now.”
Said Coach Mike Shanahan: “We’ve got a state-of-the-art kitchen. And when you’ve got a great kitchen like we do, it makes it a lot easier in the offseason. Some of these young guys when they come in are not used to having good eating habits, especially these rookies. Some of these vets are the same way. … We’ve got a few guys that need a dietician. And we’ll watch those guys closely. But if they get to eat healthy, I think they come in earlier, stay a bit later.”
Shanahan also said the Redskins “needed a bigger weight room than we had. … You’re looking for the little things. It starts with the offseason. … I think they [the players] want to hang around a little more and it’s something that’s pretty special to have.”
